North West Company Increases Dividend


Yesterday, The North West Company increased its dividend from $1.04 to $1.12 per year, or 7.7%. My yield on cost is now 7.73%.

Also yesterday, JP Morgan announced its intension* of increasing the dividend to $1.52 from $1.20. My yield on cost would become 4.43%.

As of today, my dividend increases for 2013 stand at:

During the past week, I added $4,200 in new funds to my accounts, for a total of $17,920 so far this year.

  1. ADY - When I first made the move to dividend investing in Jan/12, NWC was one of the first stocks on my watchlist. Never bought it, as I was worried about lack of capital appreciation. Always nice to get the divvy increases though!!

    1. I've thought about selling NWC for the reason you mention, but decided to keep it because of my high yield on cost. Total dividends received add up to $1,882 since 2008. I'll keep holding as long as the dividend increases at an average rate of 5% per year, but I will not be adding shares anytime soon.
